Day 9 - Pasta
Today in Art of Cooking each group got to make different pastas!
First, we did a plethora of Kahoots hosted by Mr. Falomo to learn about the origins of pasta, as well as differentiate between types of pasta noodles and composers! Once we completed that, we received our recipes to begin on our pasta sauce! The sauces we picked were vodka(less), bolognese, and alfredo sauce. To begin, all of us got pans to start cooking vegetables so they could soften for the base, and continued by adding spices, heavy cream, and/or tomato paste.

Unfornately, I handled the sauce using the orignal recipe, and while it came out delicious it's taste did not vaguely resemble that of vodka sauce. It was kind of spicy and salty so I will be taking it home to make grilled cheese and dip it in the sauce like a soup. Fortunately, Meredith arrived to save our pasta by remaking the vodka sauce with her own recipe, which tasted correct and was so much better than the original one, so that was very successful and joyous!

While we worked on the the two sauces, Nuria worked on the dough and let it rise as we boiled the water. We used one of those pasta makers where you roll it out and cut it using the metal machine which was kind of scary because I didn't want my fingers to get pinched in the metal but it worked really well. I had never made pasta before like that, and even though the water took almost an hour to boil it cooked in only a few minutes!
